Arrival and Dismissal
Our day begins with prayers at 7:50. Please bring your child to the schoolyard in the morning. On rainy days the children meet in the school hall.
The lunch period is 11:55 and 12:35. The majority of children do stay for lunch because of the short lunch period.
The dismissal bell Monday through Friday is 2:35. In the event of an emergency dismissal, please listen to KYW. Each child must have an emergency plan for early dismissal.
Dismissal Lines
All children are dismissed in one of the following lines: Car (This is anyone riding home in a car.), North Chesterfield Walkers, South Chesterfield Walkers, and After School Program. Please notify school if
there is a change in your child's line.
Uniforms
Children are to wear the uniform specified in the school guidelines. Please remember no nail polish or jewelry.
The girls may wear small post earrings.
The gym uniform is to be worn to school on Tuesday, our gym day.
Supplies
Your child should always be prepared to work. Every day your child needs pencils, crayons, a glue stick and scissors. Art supplies will be kept in the classroom. Please label everything with your child's name including books, lunch boxes, schoolbags, sweatshirts, and sweaters.
Communication Folder
Your child's Communication Folder is the communication source between home and school. All communication from school will come home in the communication folder. Anything you wish to send to school should be placed in the communication folder. Please make sure you check this folder every day.
Notes
Please allow at least two days time to respond to your notes or emails.
Absentee Notes - These should be sent on a 3x5 card the day your child returns to school stating the reason for the absence.
Medical Information - Please inform me of any important information that would affect your child in the classroom. (hearing or vision problems, allergies, bathroom needs)
Telephone Number or Address Changes - Please notify the school immediately.
Book Clubs
Papers are sent home for your convenience. Please make all checks out to Scholastic Book Club.
School Trips
Trip information will be given well in advance for review.
CORA
We receive special services in speech, reading, math, and counseling. These services are available to help your child overcome any difficulties he or she may be experiencing.
After School Program

Recess and Lunch
Please make sure your child has a dishtowel to cover his or her desk. Remember to pack straws, forks, or spoons. Water is a good drink during the warm weather. No soda is permitted. Keep snacks low sugar. No nuts or peanut butter products are permitted.
Report Cards
Report cards are given in three trimesters. Report card grades are O - outstanding, VG - very good, G - good, S- satisfactory, I - improvement needed, and U - unsatisfactory.
Reading
Library Day - is on Tuesday. Please make sure your child returns his or her book on Thursday. Each child must have a chapter book kept with him or her in the classroom at all times.
Math
Calculators will be used occasionally. Please purchase a very inexpensive calculator for your child. Times tables must be reviewed every night to ensure proper learning.
Spelling
There is no spelling book. The spelling words come from the reading lessons. A list of spelling words can be found in your child's Journeys Practice Book.

HOMEWORK Homework is to be completed each day. Homework can be found in your child's homework copybook and my website. Please remember, when your child is absent, it is important that he/she completes the schoolwork he/she missed at home. Points will be deducted for missing homework.
