The purpose of homework is to reinforce the skills taught during the school day.
The children will have nightly math homework. It is also important for the children to memorize the math facts (1+1=2). The children will be given two study sheets containing the addition facts. It may be helpful to make flash cards for your child. Make it fun, have them even quiz YOU!
I also encourage you to read with your child for 15 minutes each night and review the reading Target Vocabulary words in the study copybook. Below you will find examples of questions you can ask your child when you are done reading with them. Also, please practice one of the Five Finger Retells for each story.
The children will receive a homework sheet for the months of September through December. After those months the children will copy their homework from the blackboard. The homework assignments are always included in my weekly letter.
Please remember, if your child is absent, it is important that they complete the schoolwork they missed at home.
Homework should not be an unpleasant experience for you or your child. Please contact me if your child is experiencing difficulty completing the assignments.
