Ash Wednesday is Wednesday February 26, 2020 this year to start off the Lenten season. Lent is a 40-day season of fasting, repentance and reflection before Easter. We will attend Mass at Christ The King as a school, and reflect on Christ’s life during Lent, focusing on His own ultimate triumph over temptation. Lent ends with the celebration of Easter, marking Jesus’ resurrection.
Christ The King encourages students to make a Lenten sacrifice to better connect with Christ.
The ashes used each Ash Wednesday come from the burning of palm leaves from our previous Palm Sunday celebration. This further helps us understand that God made us from dust, and to dust we shall return and live for eternity in salvation. Lent teaches us to repent and learn.
