According to a Pew Research study, veterans and their families enjoyed higher living standards over the past few decades, prior to COVID-19. The pandemic has unfortunately put our veterans at a greater risk for unemployment. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates that some 40,000 veterans experience homelessness on any given day.
Backpacks will be filled with food supplies, clothes, and other necessities like toiletries. The backpack distribution also connects those in need with outreach services (Mary’s Cupboard, Catholic Social Services and the Bensalem chapter of the DAV).
For those interested in donating new or gently used backpacks to Mary’s Cupboard (100 Levittown Parkway), donations will be accepted through September 25. You may drop it off without an appointment, but we ask that you wear a face mask and practice social distance upon your arrival. Call Mary’s Cupboard to find out more ways you can help at (215) 949-1991.
